On September 5th hundreds of thousands of Shofars will be blown around the globe symbolizing celebrations of hope and new beginnings. It is mentioned at various time periods and in many stories found with ancient texts. When it is heard it reminds us of our Ancient Ties.
One particular ancient story that comes to my, Ariel Dagan, mind during our modern time in our world events is described in the Book of Joshua chapter 6:1-27. When the Israelites, the 12 tribes, where entering into the Land of Israel after years in the desert.
“And ye shall compass the city, all the men of war, going about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear seven rams’ horns before the ark; and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the horns. And it shall be, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the horn, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down……..And Joshua commanded the people, saying: ‘Ye shall not shout, nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.”
Even though the current Syrian crisis is not the same as the battle of Jericho, still there is a silence that exists. It is unclear when or what will happen. On thing is certain. The silent and not so silent sounds of war are growing louder.
Below is a video I wanted to share of Japanese Drummers. I believe that their performance illustrates the growing preparation for something we all pray for will not spread past the borders of Syria.
