Any dream will do

Making dreams a reality

Making dreams a reality

Any person around the globe accessing the Google home page will be able to know that today we look back and reflect on what can happen when people dream about something and work to make it a reality. I, Ariel Dagan of Worcester, MA  do not want to take any more time on what you can read across any other news site. Rather, I  want to bring you attention to what Dr. Martin Luther King talked about. It is about  any person who has no ability to be free. Although progress has been made in the past 50 years, today nearly 30 million people around the world are not free. They are enslaved. Human trafficking is modern day slavery. As Dr. King said “Now is the time”. Time continues to pass.

You can view his speech below.  In Biblical days we read about people who have been enslaved and have risen out of slavery. The first and famous story of course is the story of brothers who neglected to take care of their own brethren. Joseph  was sold into slavery, kept his dream, and rose up to regain the dignity each person deserves as Dr King said: “We will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream”.

Dr. King talked about people who have witnessed being in jail cells. Joseph used his time in jail to help others but mostly remained in belief that things will turn around. We know very well that is was Joseph’s dreams, or power of interpreting dreams that eventually helped him rise. Dr. King’s dream and power of speech helped others believe in the dreams and work to fulfill it. Just as Pharaoh did follow Joseph’s advice to save Egypt from starvation, so too have millions followed the message Dr. King spoke of 50 years ago today. As we still have modern day slavery and human rights violations ” let us not wallow in the valley of despair”. If the words inn the constitution say that “all men are created equal”, we must continue to dream as Joseph did and Dr. King did as well many years later. And as Dr. King said: ” With this faith we will be able to stand up for freedom together knowing that we will be free one day”

Below is a clip from Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat “Any dream will do”:

May all the dreams of a world where all enslaved humans are able to experience living with dignity as free people.
